Question:
I was wondering if anyone has used those Crest white strips. They are kind of
expensive, so before I bought them I was wondering. Do they really work and if
they do how white do they make your teeth? Are they worth the money?
Answer:
You would do better to simply go to the dentist and have them cleaned.
Works every time.
Talk with your dentist.
As another poster suggested, you should see your dentist about
this. Regular cleanings by the dentist make your teeth clean,
however, not white. But your dentist can help you with white, too,
if you ask...
Cleaning is for your health. White is for looks.
Cleaning does not necessarily make them white. Your dentist would give
advise on what to use. Some remedies may be bad for your teeth.
There's no danger (to us) from mercury amalgams. I wonder, though,
about a dentist who wasn't careful exposing himself to to it
over a long period of time. I'm not sure what you mean by "white"
fillings, but I wouldn't want ceramic fillings.
Huh? Sounds to me like you've been listening to a bunch of those
left-wing enviro-quacks who believe that, e.g., flouride is bad (when
water company officials told one local left-wing enviro-quack that the
water in his town already had flouride in it -- naturally, as it came
out of the ground -- he promptly said "But that's NATURAL flouride, so
it's not bad for you!" -- what a bunch of quacks!). The mercury-silver
amalgam is not patented (has been out of patent for over 100 years)
and sells for the cost of the metals in it plus a few cents profit
(i.e., marginal cost of production). The white stuff (basically epoxy
glue with various "fillers" to make it stronger) is all patented, and
costs $$$ to the dentists because of the patent. It's also harder to
apply. My dentist primarily installs the white stuff, but he has to
charge about 50% more to do so, because it's so tedious to install
(taking about 30% longer per filling) and because the material itself
costs more (due to the patents, not because there's anything magically
expensive about epoxy glue with a color agent and glass or ceramic
flakes in it).
I believe they are a waste of money. Used them and followed the
directions to the letter. Two problems - first, no noticeable
difference in whiteness at all. Second, the strips are too short.
They fit over the front teeth and a few of the side teeth but are too
short to completely fit over all the teeth. You would think that for
$35 or so they'd cover all the teeth.
I used Crest Whitestrips and had wonderful results. They work great!
They made my teeth a bit sensitive, but (as the instructions promised)
this was temporary. Cleaning does NOT make teeth white--I speak from
experience!
As a tea, coke, and red wine drinker, I never thought my teeth could
look so white. I am very happy with the results. My older sister had
her teeth professionally bleached at a dentists office around the time I
used the Whitestrips, and my mom agreed that my results were just as
good.
