I have an 11-year history of tinnitus and hypacusis following an incident with a firecracker going off too close to me. I have gone through auditory habituation to reduce the severity of the hyperacusis. It was remarkably successful. I recently badly chipped my left lower second molar. My dentist recommends a root canal followed by a crown. I have heard that in rate cases dental work can permanently worsen tinnitus. I have had a root canal done on a foward lower incisor with no difficulty. Is this true?

How often does this happen, and under which circumstances? Many people have reported having problems with the high speed drills worseing their tinnitus, although normally temporary. If you've already had one tooth done without difficulty-I wouldn't much about another one. Personally, I had a molar root canal on one side-and a crown on the other--both within the last three months. NO "t" problem at all.

Recommend any 'miracle' cures for an infected root canal ?
