Gum
disease is becoming an epidemic
in many areas in the world. An aging
population, bad eating habits, and
a lacking oral hygiene have been
cited as reasons. Amongst the hardest
hit are diabetics; twice as many
diabetics have serious symptoms
of gum disease disease vs non-diabetic
adults. Bleeding and painful gums
and persistent bad breath are only
the tip of the iceberg; much more
serious things are happening below
the gum line that can lead to tooth
loss or even serious diseases in
other parts of the body, e.g. heart
disease.
