Question:
I'm currently unemployed and in desperate need of a dentist ... I have 2
teeth that desperately need pulled (1 is half missing) and 1 in front
that needs filled.... I am in great pain and can not find any dental
clinics near me..any referrals would be appreciated I'm in Cincinnati
Ohio .....
Answer:
Use the Yellow Pages and call, call, call. Offer to barter one day's
labor (painting, cleaning) in exchange.
Will the gas station let you buy gas for 5 cents a gallon so you can
get to the dentist?
Technically correct. You need to declare as income any "barter"
arrangement. Some small towns use "Town Bucks" to keep dollars being
spent locally. Another quasi-illegal deal as far as tax code goes.
I guess that's a red alert for the IRS. Do you know of anyone
running a business declaring barter arrangements?
No. And the IRS does not check. Its much too difficult. Besides they
have bigger fish to fry. Which is why the IRS stinks so much.
No. Because a painter believes that the doc worked 2 hours making the
beautiful bridge and now he is going to work 2 hours painting the
office waiting room.
Sorry, but it does not work that way. Because he expects me to buy the
paint too.
An emergency patient with no money gets it for free from me. If they
are decent people, they will tell a few friends and hopefully, I will
make out just great. The others I forget about real fast. I chalk this
up to "advertising."
