I
am looking for any studies that
connect diet and dental health.
I don't men not eating sweets but
rather, a connection between intake
of vitamins, minerals and trace
elements from the diet and dental
health. Do studies show that having
a diet poor in the foods such as
leafy green vetetables that supply
these nutrients effects dental health?
Do studies show that supplementation
with vitamins and minerals can help
maintain dental health?
I can
think of a few nutrients that are
relevent:
Vitamin
C: One way you know you have scurvy
is when you leave blood on your
bread when you take a bite out of
it.
Folic
acid: I seem to recall that it works
best in mouthwash form.
Coenzyme
Q10: This is depleted in gingivitis-afflicted
tissue. From personal experience,
just 10 mg/day was enough to stop
my gums from bleeding.
