Question:
My dentist won't even submit claims for me if I enroll. Says she's heard
too many negative complaints about it. After perusing enrollment fees and
co-pays, I came to the conclusion that I'd be paying even more than I'm
paying now for general maintenance and I (with no plan) have two exams and
two cleanings a year. Not impressed.
Answer:
The dental plan that tri-care submitted to was only a pacification plan
designed to placate and to say "see, we provide a dental plan for our
retirees". Also, it gives klinton a further opportunity to say "we take care
of our own".
The plan is crap. Most people can take the premiums and co-pays and put them
aside and it will be more than enough to pay for the care that the plan
provides.
Similar to a HMO (HEALTHCARE MAINTENANCE ORG)
A DMO is not that great because what happens is the dentist can make more
with a list of patients than they would with a live patient sitting there in
the chair. Let me explain, like a HMO the DMO pays the dentist to "have you
as a member" on paper. This allows you to have dentist to make money even
though they may never see you! The service you receive with them may be
second best because YOU are are required to use that dentist and have no
choice.
I found some great alternatives to all this stuff for people that are really
on a budget. I am certainly not wealthy and most likely the good folks in
this group are not either. I would love share a great alternative to the
insurance problem, but I can't post it or that would be spam. So I am
offering some free advice on how to decide what is most economical
alternative to getting your family the dental care that is best for them;
dental insurance or an alternative. I myself don't use dental insurance of
any kind. I use a great alternative. I would be more than happy to help you
make an educated comparison.
