OT, opinion on dental prices ?

Question:

Does anyone know what the average price should be for crowns, bridge work etc? I was wondering what price a person paying cash would pay per porceline crown. Does anyone have a clue?

Answer: I just Paid $1000 each for two in Florida

Around $900 for a crown. If you're paying cash most dentists will make a deal to charge you less.

I got a 7 tooth porcelain bridge for $2400.00. I was charged $350.00 per tooth. There are 6 crowns and 1 fake tooth in the bridge.

Even if it is a good price i can't help thinking how much dope I could have bought!

You got a deal mate! The going rate for bridgework is the number of teeth involved x [usual cost of crowns per tooth] Are you in the US? I could see if you were in the UK or some other med subsidized country

In most areas you can get a crown for around 6- 700 each for a porcelan on base for one on gold or precious metal it is a bit more and if you have a dental discount plan you can buy for around 75 bucks the cost drops to around 4-470 with cash

Then there are dental schools that I just went to for a full go over--(checkup) They give great prices on expensive things like implants and crowns and the like Half to one third the rate of normal docs and those students really do their best because their grade rides on it and it isnt like there is no doc around to check every little thing Not only that but the quality of products used where I am going is top notch as there is a huge variance in quality of crowns and implants

I just had two root canals, with gold/porcelain crowns. I also had two cavities drilled and filled during these visits. A total of 4 trips that lasted over 7 hours. Total price around $650 USD.

This was with a US educated and trained doctor by the way... meaning proper use of anaesthesia and concern for minimizing pain

It is possible to have teeth extracted here for around $3 US / per from less skilled practitioners, but I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
