Question:
I am a Mum who is genuinely concerned about her son.
I know my son (early 20's) smokes dope in large quantities in the evenings
after work.
However, he has in recent months developed a dark brown mark on one of his
upper front teeth. He also has a small white blister type thing on his top
lip which has been there for a few weeks.
Am I right to suspect he could be taking Crack?
Answer:
No need to get hysterical, panic or jump to conclusions.
Brown stains on teeth are hardly the basis for suspecting someone of smoking
crack.
I'm sure he's a good boy and has the common sense to never touch the stuff.
I have just breathed a huge sigh of relief.
He works full time, but come the weekends sleeps 24/7, getting up only to
order food.
It isn't the whole tooth that is stained, just part of it. I'm sure of this;
if he could have scraped it off, he would have done.
It must be him using a hash pipe. Not that I condone this, but it could be a
darned sight worse......
I would be concerned. Ask your son if he knows Adamski. Brown stained
teeth could be an indication that your son is practicing SCAT.
I've seen both things on pot smokers, from
trying to smoke the very last of a roach and burning one's lip.
Although I would've expected it to heal within a week, or so, unless
he continues to injur the area.
Also, I've seen some people, who smoke their weed with tobacco and
suck the shit back through onto their teeth, get this sort of stain.
You may want to give him a gift of some pearl drops toothpaste and
some whitener.
Lisa, have you thought to ask him about his drug use? Without coming
off all heavy, obviously. I mean, I know he's your boy and all but,
he is an adult, as well.
Good on you for trying to understand what is going on with your son
but, remember that things aren't always as bad as we imagine. It's
most likely, in my opinion, a result of smoking pot, with tobacco.
Could be heavy dope smoking. Could be that he's smoking tobacco as well.
Maybe chewing tobacco but that would discolor the bottom teeth before the
top. He could also be drinking more coffee. Could also be tooth decay that's
finally rotted so far that it's beginning to break through the front of the
tooth. Ask him to smile and then blast his teeth with a can of compressed
air. If he screams in pain, call the dentist.
