Question:
Does anyone have any experience with how BSBC dental insurance works.
We do not pay an awful lot for the insurance. The paper work plainly
states that major work like crowns will be paid at 50%.
I got a statemnt for BCBS today, and expenses involving a crown
for a broken tooth are about $600. for my share. This figur is not
exact but close enough. I am thinking they ,ade a mistake, but
the form says a cheaper alternate treatment rate would be used.
My question is ..... is the alterntive to pull a front tooth?
What is the fourth bottom tooth back on either side called? (canine,
or what)
I do not expect anyone to pay for my dental care, but it seems to me
like our family should drop BCBS if the do not pay the 50% on major
work they say.
Answer:
If an alternate benefit is offered, the alternate service should
be clearly stated on the explanation of benefits. Ask your dentist to
explain if you can't understand the terminology.
What is planned? Perhaps we could explain the plan based on what you
need.
As example, preventative care - prophy, exams, x-rays are paid at 100%
Restorative -- fillings -- is at 80% and major work is paid at 50% --
if approvable!
They have a least expensive care clause. This means that if someone
has missing teeth on both sides of one arch, then they will not pay
for bridgework -- only removable partial dentures.
